New Construction and Repair Certification
AVV has ample resources to perform inspections and provide certification for new-build vessels and piping. This includeds the inspection of repairs and modifications to exisiting vessels.
Typical vessels under pressure would be
- Process pressure vessels
- Cookers and Dryers for various foods (Fish and Chichen etc )
- Air receivers
- LPG vessels
- Boilers (both fire tube and water tube)
- Heat exchangers
- Autoclaves
- Refrigeration vessels
In accordance with th requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and the PER (Pressure equipment Repulations of 2009 ammended by Guidance Notes) and SANS 10227 the normal route to certification would be
- Review of design and detailed drawings
- Review of manufacturing procedures such as quality plans, welding procedures , non-destructive testing procedures
- Surveillance inspection at the manufacturer's works during fabrication
- Performance of the mandatory Code inspections
- Witness of the final acceptance tests
- Certification and Registration
The abovementioned Regulations, mandatory in South Africa, require that Inspectors performing new construction inspection are qualified to South African Qualification and Certification Committee requirements for inspectors of pressurised equipment (SAQCC IPE) status.
AVV is a Government Approved Inspection Agency (SANAS registration number LVUP 131), registered with the Department of Labour and annually audited by the South African National Accreditation System. AVV has a number of IPE Inspectors, all with extensive experience in a wide spectrum of industry.

AVV also has ASME qualified AI and AIS personnel and is thus able to offer ASME Inspection Services.
